Saturday night I headed back to the mainland for my favorite part of the annual sportbike rally – the Thunder Run. During the Thunder Run, a lot of the attendees parade through town on their sportbikes. The town closes the roads that are along their route and observers line the streets along the way to watch. I’m not sure how many sportbikers participated in the Thunder Run this year, but it seemed a lot smaller than last year’s, which seemed smaller than the years before. Victoria spoke to one of the OPP officers about it and he said that ever since the town started saying that the bikers aren’t allowed to do stunts during the parade, a fair amount of bikers have opted not to do the Thunder Run even though they are in town for rally weekend. How many bikes do you see?

This past weekend was full of fun activities. Though I usually would much rather stay on the island on most days, I did head to the mainland for a few cool events this weekend. On Saturday, I attended the annual Sportbike Rally weekend. This is a huge annual event that attracts hundreds of sportbikes from Ontario and parts of the U.S. Friends of mine have traveled all the was from Minnesota for it before. I went over to Kinsmen Park for the expo and the stunt show. The Starboyz from Akron even performed at the show. Below are some pics and a video from the stunt show.
Here’s a video of part of the stunt show:
As promised, here’s a video of the sportbikes going through Parry Sound during the annual Thunder Run. This parade happens as a part of the Sportbike Rally that happens in town every year. This was the 27th year for the event. Can you count how many sportbikes are in the parade?
It’s the weekend of the 27th annual Sportbike Rally in Parry Sound. Thousands of sportbike enthusiasts from all over North America are in town for the weekend. Everywhere you go there are bikes. It’s pretty cool. I’ll try to make it to town tonight to video the Thunder Run. Here’s a few that were in front of me when I was driving back from getting the propane.
