The kitchen has a new cabinet thanks to Colleen and her value saving ways. She found a corner cabinet at her local closeout store. It was from Target and was selling for $600+ regular price and it’s now on clearance for $369. She got it for $20. Yeah, $20. I still don’t believe that anything at Target could cost $600, but for $20 it’s pretty sweet.
The husband, Chris, and I took it up to the cottage this past weekend. It’s extremely heavy (Chris almost hurt his back getting it from the boat into the cottage) and it was a breeze to put together. We’ve never seen such organized pieces. Every part was labeled with a letter. We alphabetized the parts on the front porch to make finding them easier. The staging area on the front porch:

After a few days of painting, the kitchen is done! It’s amazing how much brighter it is now. It makes such a difference when you’re trying to see at night.

And the before:

I realized that I don’t ever seem to post pics of myself because I’m always the one behind the camera. While taking pics of the sunset and afterglow last night, I shot this one of myself. I’m still wearing my painting outfit because I was working on the kitchen all day. The walls have all been cleaned, the priming is done, and the ceiling is painted. Next we will do the walls.

This year really seems to be the year of painting. The master bedroom was painted last week (pics forthcoming) and this week we are all tackling the kitchen. Here is a pic of what the kitchen looked like before we started painting. I’ll post some after pictures once we’re done.

Also, remember our very colorful outhouse that I posted about earlier this summer? Victoria and her husband are here and they are painting it today. It will be worthy of another video when it’s done. It’s really going to be that good.
