Off the grid days

Has it seriously been over two months since I’ve written here? Wow. Life really gets in the way sometimes. For the first time in about a decade, I didn’t make it up to the cottage for Memorial Day weekend. Lots has been going on with the end of the school year coming in a few days and hosting the big car convention in 40 some days. I’ll be glad when it’s all over so I can get some well deserved island time. This May has been full of thunderstorms – one of which knocked the power out last Saturday night. We haven’t had a blackout in a long time, so I was excited to break out some of our new candle holders. It’s amazing how well candles can light the place. It makes me want to have a night a week where we don’t use any electricity.

Here’s husbandman in the living room. Yes, we keep our Halloween tree up all year. :)

candle holders

The other thing that cottagers do over the winter is try to find ways to bring parts of the cottage back to their winter house. I got these rustic handmade candle holders recently to do just that.

While visiting Victoria and Mark, we decided to break out one of the Manly Man Candles to give their house a more rustic smell too. The hunting lodge scent smells like a more pine version of the cottage.
