Victoria: Everyone has different ideas of what summer means. To me, it means going to the cottage and temporarily escaping from modern life. While at the island I love to sit on the warm black rocks at the end of the island, climb to the top to Pirates Cove to enjoy the most amazing view in the world, cliff jump at Hole in the Wall, make muffins with fresh berries from the island, and take evening sunset canoe cruises. The island is my favorite vacation destination, is a place I love, and is a part of who I am. |
I liked your Outhouse on YouTube, and discovered your blog. I posted your outhouse video my blog, http://www.LollyWillows.com about an off grid house I am building in Vermont. I also have an outhouse tour on YouTube taken two years ago in WolfeIsland Nova Scotia see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=foVk2lDLP7A . I am not “into” outhouses–though i will will admit they have great decorative / meditative possibilities–but more into the off-grid thing, and I also was taken in by your tone of awe for nature, sincerity, and willingness to be goofy in your videos. thank you for sharing it so openly.
Hey Sean! Thanks for stopping by my blog. I’m glad that you’re enjoying it (and all of its goofiness).
I’ll be updating it a lot more once summer hits. It looks like you’re going to have quite a house once you’re done building it. I can’t wait to see some pics of the progress once building really gets going. Mind if I add you to my blogroll?
Thanks for reading!
Sadie
Hi Sadie, Love your blog..I spent my summers in a cottage on Carling Bay near Nobel on Georgian Bay ..we now have a place on Manioulin Island but I miss the ruggedness of the Canadian Shield terrain on Georgian Bay.
Lovely to read your blog on cold winter mornings when you know getting up North won’t happen for a few months yet!
Thanks for taking the time to allow us into your Island life!!!!!
Barb, thanks for reading the blog! It’s always fun to hear from other cottagers. The rugged terrain on the bay is definitely a unique part of the island. I recently visited Victoria down in South Carolina. Though once you’re on the water down there, it feels similar to Georgian Bay, it’s definitely not the same without the rocks.
